Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris (born October 20, 1964) was an American lawyer, politician, and the current vice president of the United States. She is also the first female vice-president and the highest-ranking female official in the United American. As a member of the Democratic Party, she was the attorney general of California in 2011-2017 and an United States senator representing California in 2017-2021. Harris was born and raised in Oakland, California. Harris started her career in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office, before being recruited to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office and then to the City Attorney of San Francisco's office. In 2003 she was appointed district attorney of San Francisco. Harris was elected Attorney General of California in 2010 and re-elected in 2014. Harris was the United States junior senator from California from 2017 until 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Martinez in the 2016 Senate election, becoming the 2nd African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. Harris was a senator who advocated for health care and federal de-scheduling of cannabis. A pathway to citizenship for immigrants who are not legally recognized. The DREAM Act bans assault weapons and progressive tax reform. The attention of the nation was drawn by her sharp questions of Trump administration officials during Senate sessions. The most notable was Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh who was accused of sexual assault.
